1. I was exited at iPad when some videos revealed before the press conference. Although the publishing itself is not that impressive.
2. I mainly focus on reading experience. And right after i know that iPad can be used to read PDF files, i think i should probably buy one. Don’t mention all the eBook dealers can add their eBook APPs on iPad. Also, the iPad way of reading comics is the best experience by far i can imagine. There will be all kinds of interesting newspapers and magazines. Although most of the price of them is too high for a digital reading, there are some free ones to try too. I think finally the publishing industry will enter the digital stage, and after they learned enough, it will be better and better.
3. The other most important thing about mobile devices is the battery life. I used to want to buy a lightweight Netbook for travelling or comfort reading and web browsing. But the estimated 2-4 hours battery life time can only hold up to 1.5 hours normally, maybe worse. Which means if i travel with it. It will stop working even in the half way from Waterloo to Toronto, not mention hold up to 1 day until I reach hotel or home for recharging. 10 hours! iPad brings 10 hours battery life time, and it isn’t a estimated one.
4. There may be not enough interface ports of iPad. But there will be some alternate accessories for expending interfaces. Although the accessories usually very expensive. But I think it’s reasonable to understand, the Apple things are always expansive ones. So if Apple permits, there will be accessories like card reader, even add-on camera.
5. Some APPs are really good on iPad according to some sources. Gizmodo just publish a 99 iPad APPs reviewed. Some of the APPs are right in my mind. Like Epicurious, I’m just planning to learn some western dishes before I leave Canada. And iAnnotatePDF, I can just read and mark my PDFs the same as on computers. What about today’s new APP Autodesk® SketchBook® Pro for iPad is so great to me, and i’m so impressed that it just costs $7.99. So how could some APPs have face to price at more than $20 just because there’s a HD in their new names.
6. I heard a lot from the reviews that the screen displaying and touching experiences of iPhone is way much more better than other smart phones. So I guess the iPad touching screen is also the best among the similar tablet devices.
7. I can also start to develop some APPs for myself or even make moneys one day. After all, I’m capable of programming. But shame on me that I don’t have any smart mobile devices for me to test my thoughts. I think it’s time for me to bleed. No pains no gains, right?
———–The really annoying things about iPad————–
1. iBook and some services are still not available in countries other than the USA, not to mention back in China. And the international sales postponed to late May, and we don’t know whether it will be postponed again, or not.
2. No camera! I don’t really need the camera on mobile devices to take photos or video chat. I’m kind of amateur photography enthusiast, I take photos with my DSLR. And usually I don’t like to video chat, it’s not necessary for most of my communication cases. But…It is now a starting stage of AR (Augmented reality) world, camera is one of the most important input sensor for AR applications. It’s too bad there is no possibilities that great AR APPs appear on iPad which has a big screen for some specific type of AR applications. Not until it got a add-on camera or 2nd generation iPad release with a camera.
3. The price of 3G models are too high, if they take $100 off, I will be sure to buy a 3G model of iPad, even just for A-GPS functions and minor usage of 3G connections.
———conclusion———–
This blog is write to those friends question me about my reason to buy a iPad, and someone told me iPad is not good enough to buy now.
Microsoft Courier is great and more fit me in productive things, but it’s still a fantasy now. Too long to wait.
I’m never an Apple fan before. But I think, I should buy one iPad this time.
